Picked this up at a sale last month for a friend. He likes rebuilding old guns---- this should keep him busy.
Made in the late 1800s , J H Fall---Nashville Tn--- 20ga double barrel.
I hope to someday do a project exactly like that. Seen my Dad- when I was a kid- try to carve a buttstock just like that one. Dad used some salvaged piece of walnut that split before he got it done and he quit .He put the old cracked and taped buttstock back on it..Now I as an adult have all the tools and access to materials Dad didnt have..I have his old shotgun now but cant bring myself to make any changes to it..But I'll find an old double shotgun with same side lock plates and work it over someday for pure nostalgia.
I called up north to tell my friend about the weapon only to find out he had passed away last weekend. It seems like to many of the good ones are passing on.
