PM-1440GT Owners Steady Rest Question

For those of you that own the PM-1440GT. What is the max capacity of your steady rest? I'm barely getting two inches on mine. Seems kind of small to me but that is all it will get. The manual says three inches. I'm wondering if the first generation lathes came with smaller steadies.

My Kent 13x40 only goes to about 2 3/4" diameter, even though the hole through the castings is nearly 5". Poorly designed fingers, but that can be remedied should I ever need it to go bigger than it can now.

My 1440gt will go about 2.25. I believe it was one shipment after yours.
