I have a PM-30MV converted to Centroid CNC.

Has anyone attempted to reduce the accessory (spindle) pulley diameter to generate more useful RPMs? I am aware that the Spindle bearings are not designed for true HSM, but an additional 1000 rpm(4000 max)would be useful in many applications using small diameter tooling.

Go with it if that is the work you do. However, you may get into bearing trouble at higher rpm's, so you might want to research that...

Agreed. Watch out for the bearings. I have a PM-30MV-HS (High Speed) model. When I bring it up to around 3000+ RPM it sounds like the upper spindle bearing is starting to make a little noise. So I just run it slower for now. :) I haven't pulled it apart to inspect things yet.

Its supposed to be able to hit 4000 RPM stock, but I haven't tried.
