I was researching pre-ream hole size chart and found this site: http://blog.supertoolinc.com/2012/04/06/pre-ream-hole-size/
It gives a good explaination of hole sizes for reaming as well as recommended feeds and speeds.
Has a printable chart for pre-reaming hole size as well.
Thought it might be a nice link to add to the "Beginners" forum and could be made/added to a sticky thread if so desired.
 
Thanks for that. I'm putting this note in my reamers drawer
"Drill hole 2-3% smaller than reamer"

Didn't know this rule and I'd just lose the chart.
 
That is a great chart. I used to use a drill 1/64th smaller than the reamer. Now days Number and Letter sizes are more commonly available.
