110v 1/4 hp motor single phase

Called the local motor repair shop guy and he was not interested in repairing it.

I tried to explain it but he said "just wire it direct".

Any tips or do I look for a working motor?

It looks like a loose connection overheated; if you can get a suitable bit of card to
replace the phenolic plastic board that used to hold those wire terminals
apart, and splice in good wires, the windings and bearings seem to be
in good shape: the motor is apparently repairable.

It'll take some crimp-on connectors of the 'flag' type, probably a barrel crimp to extend
the wires from the good end to new wire where the charcoal is...

Remember the old adage: " when you don't know what you're doing, do it neatly"
and try to keep the wire color and position in the as-built configuration. A motor shop
would try to get factory replacement parts (unlikely to be available for a small motor).

The centrifugal start switch is completely destroyed, and it's not a ball bearing motor. There's little value in it and little reason
to spend time trying to fix it
Look for another motor is my advice

Thank you for sharing your expertise. I'll be on the lookout for a new one.

if you were so inclined, you could replace the centrifugal start switch with a Sinpak switch .

like i did here....
