hello everyone
for awhile ive been looking for a lathe for my home shop, ive found a rivett lathe model 9 18,not a great price but ok ( 600,00 ) i know nothing about this lathe so opinions will be appreciated,it has a collet closer and milling attach but no chuck, any opinions dave

I've not owned or driven one, but from what I have been told, they are very good quality and very accurate.

I now have TWO machinist friends with Rivett 608 lathes, both close by. Lucky baztuds...

A Rivett 608 in great shape sold at the Cabin Fever auction with LOTS of extra tooling for about $1,400. As far as I was concerned that guy got the best deal in the show.

I met a guy once who had a Rivvett. He told me that the tailstock was not Morse Taper. I told him he should just make a new tailstock ram instead of trying to work around that. I don't know if that is a common problem with Rivetts or just his machine. They are supposed to be top notch machines like Hardinge.
