Simplest way to machine a washer?

I usually just grab something close from scrap and bore the ID, then put a piece of round stock in the 3 jaw chuck and cut a slight taper that will tighten up on the washer when it is driven on. This will give access to the OD and both sides of the washer for final finish given light cuts.
