Soft jaws

So, I have a 6" Skinner 4 jaw chuck, want to make some soft jaws.
anyone have a clue or guide as to what size copper pipe would work ?

i think some pipe from lowes will work or try to find some shorter sections from a contractor because that stuff is expensive.

Get a short ( 8" or so) of 3/4 copper pipe. Heat it with a propane torch till is red ( or a hot as you can get it) if possible , quickly dunk it in water till its cool. It's now annealed and will cut and bend with ease.
