I was at Hershey last week and ran across this steam traction engine model. The tag on the side says Tubal Cain. He was asking a pretty penny for it so it obviously didn't come home with me. But if I win the 1.73 billion dollar Powerball he's going to be the first person I call! Does anyone recognize the model or could it be a one-off casting?1003231311a_HDR.jpg1003231310b_HDR.jpg

Are you thinking it’s the same “Tubal Cain” who also goes as Mr Pete on YouTube? There are/were two and I’m thinking the model was probably built by this guy…

I was not thinking about Mr Pete on youtube. I figured there was someone else out there in the model world that was responsible for the design. Thank you for the link. I will check it out in more detail when I have time.

That steam siren on it is worth a pretty penny by itself, I saw one on EB sell for $2100.

I would call that model a showman's engine, used to haul around a circus with all its attractions on public roads.
I agree: the spiral “columns” would support the canopy.
