What wheel dressers do folks recommend on the surface grinder (single point diamond or cluster)? I've only ever used a single point (my SG experience is limited to a 6x18 - which uses 7" wheels). The "new" grinder is rather more substantial, a TOS 10" (about 8x27).

At work, the big grinder is a Clausing 12x28, we use a single point dresser on it.

That is a great document on getting a surface grinder set up (not specific to DoALL machines). Vintage Machinery has lots of great info on machines, even when the specific machine is not covered, still plenty worth checking out. D

I have both single point dressers and a pencil style multiple tiny diamonds dresser. I prefer the single point for precision work, but I'll sometimes use the pencil dresser for a quick dress during roughing.

I recommend to have both. Pencil dressers are not expensive and you can use them to dress your bench grinder wheels etc too. (stuff you would never take an expensive single point diamond dresser to).
