Taps for Stainless Steel 316

Thanks guys for the suggestions and thank you terrywerm for your steps on how to work 316 stainless steel.I am checking into the OSG brand which I did contact them and told them that I wanted taps for a blind hole to make acorn nuts.OSG suggested this http://www.osgtool.com/7-16-14H53FXSEMI-BOTTEXOVA3TICN-p1723208.htm which is 40.00 that is more than my whole set of house brand taps but if this works for me then its a done deal.McMaster-Carr also has some that is also along bout the same price range,so I guess one is just as good as the other but I like OSG website which has lots of info. Please keep the thoughs coming,suggestions-----kroll

You can grind down a regular tap to eliminate the leading taper so it s consistent. Use a regular tap first then follow up with your ground tap to finish the blind hole.
