Toured Another Machine Shop

So I toured another local machine shop, they do mostly oilfield work, compressor valves and cylinder sleeves for BIG natural gas compressors, that is a pic of a cylinder off one from the LNg plant, the green lathe is chinese, with chinese writing on it haha, that's a 1 liter Dr Pepper on the tool post to give size.... they have alot of machines, okuma turret lathe I didn't get a picture of that but wanted to show a couple giants. 24 inch leblond with a 9 inch hollow spindle

Thanks for posting; I really enjoy looking at other shops and equipment.

That shop is waaay bigger than mine, but you can see about the same percentage of the floor.

Yeah it's pretty good sized place, they have a clean room as well, a haas vf5, and prolly 15 other mills and lathes, a big cnc oil country lathe too
It's pretty cramped and didn't lend itself to good pictures

I assume that 3-jaw chuck on the outboard end of the spindle is there to be used as a "spider" for long shafts ... ya?

I can only imagine the torque that lathe has with 2 heavy chucks spinning. Must be one heck of a braking system on it.
