As a noob hobby machinist, I needed to do some research on gearing and ran across the following sites that
helped me and I thought might be of interest to others

http://geargenerator.com/#200,200,1...,1,12,1,12,20,-60,2,0,60,5,12,20,0,0,0,2,-563
http://507movements.com/index01.html
http://www.amazon.com/Gears-Cutting..._14_img_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=10CVJ0PK3MSKCJEFSWCQ
There is also a rather expensive, professional reference - that seems a bit out of the typical hobby budget, but also seems to be pretty much the definitive reference
http://www.amazon.com/Dudleys-Handbook-Practical-Manufacture-Edition/dp/1439866015

Cheers

I really like the geargenerator program. It allows you to display an entire clock gear train and see if any gears will interfere with each other. It also allows you to paste a link with all your parameters for others to see.
