"Vintage Machinists Dividing w-Jacobs chuck" What the??

Wowzers - perhaps a machinist's comedic version of an egg beater or a poorly simulated Gatling gun?
I like the seller's note that he has no idea what it is. And $400?!

He's open to an offer but how much would any reasonable person make?:encourage:
I'm not bidding but one would start at the bottom of the totem pole for sure...

In other words, the perfect Father's day gift :)
If you don't know what it is, $400 seems reasonable.

Interesting concept.

I think I've met this guy. He came to look at some farm equipment I had for sale. Had no idea what it was, I had to explain what it was and how to use it. He then told me my price was to high. Funny the next call, the guy not only knew what it was and how to use it, he knew a good deal when he saw it and promptly paid full price with no haggling.

No idea what it is or how it's used but a expert on what it's worth .

That chuck has a 1-1/2"x8 thread same as the spindle.
It's a Jacobs hollow body chuck SB used to sell to hold engine valves and such.
Also small motor arbors for cutting armatures: add a chuck on a live tail stock arbor and you had the full kit.
