What is a fourth axis used for?

It adds rotary capability to a three axis milling milling machine.

That makes sense. I couldn't figure out how it went on a lathe.

Looks like a nice unit ... and local to me as well. Unfortunately, my one CNC tool is a rather small mill - DynaMyte DM2400. I don't think that this 4th axis unit would even fit onto the table

If that 4th is in working condition that a steal especially with the 5C nose on it.. But it depends on if you can interface it with the machine you have.

I have a Fadal and would love a 4th axis for it.

What are the requirements for this to work
Would it fit on my wells model 40 or my wells model 745?
