With two ‘line’ in my 115v diagram do both connect to white? What would connect to black?

Usually one line to black (hot) and one line to white (neutral) for 115 volts
Power cord also usually has a green ground wire to a screw on the motor case
or a dedicated ground screw terminal in the terminal block or nearby

I believe they are trying to say that "line power" comes in on 1 and (2,4,5 as a group).
Black(hot) vs white(neutral) doesn't matter.

Always be sure to ground the motor frame and machine.

Line power comes in at wire p1 thermal protection switch.
I prefer to bring my Hot lead to the thermal protection, this opens the power before running through the motor to neutral versus power running through the motor to a potentially open thermal switch.

Interesting approach.
I had not thought of that, but I believe you are correct!

It's just like always running the black(hot) wire directly to the switch, fuse, circuit breaker.
It would help protect against double faults like an internal motor wire shorting to the frame and motor ground being open.

Thanks for that.
