My Grandfather was in the Navy During WWII. He was involved with resupply.
He was stationed on Lake Superior for part of his deployment and was then transferred to Massachusetts until the War's end.
While away from home he sent Postcards to His 4 kids while he was away.Home for the Kids and my Grandmother was Chicago.
My father was 4 yrs old when the war started for the US forces.
I was chewin' the fat with my Dad one day about my 11" South Bend Lathe (that i'm very slowly restoring).
He knew it came from Mare Island Naval Station and was used in the War effort.
He mentioned that he had some postcards from My grandfather that my dad kept all these years.
It took a year or so, but he found them and brought them down for me to see.
I went through them and scanned the images of various warships.
Some of these ships were lost, most made it back home.
i'd like to share the images with those who may be interested in them.
Thanks for looking.
