Drill press

Benmychree,
It has a variable speed, reeves type belt drive.
But also has a back gear for the lower range of speeds.
It may be a few weeks till I can get it into a warm place and get power to it to test it.
Jake M,
Note the 3 screw holes and the rectangular hole on the right side of the head. I assume they were for an optional power feed.
The head on this is bigger than it looks in the photos.
I bid on one of these a couple years ago when I was looking for a DP. But it was in Indianapolis - long drive - so I didn't bid very high.
I bought another dp after that so don't really need this but they are so cool looking that I kinda kept an eye out for one. This one was only 25 mi from home.
Aa was suggested in the other thread about benefits of second drill presses, I will likely put a countersink in it and leave it there.

I picked it up yesterday and got it into the shop this morning.
Powered it up a little while ago and it runs and sounds nice.
Real easy to change speeds on it.
Haven't put a dial indicator to check run out on the spindle yet but to the naked eye it looks good.
I have it on a movers cart for now - need to move other things around to put it where it will go.
The head is larger than it looks in pictures.
I set the Homer bucket on it to give a sense of scale.
Fairly small table tho. 12x16.5 plus the oil trough.

My drill press disease is getting worse.
I bought another one.
It is identical to a Swedish Arboga E830 but built by/for Enco in Taiwan in 1988.
It is a heavy duty bugger - 2 HP, 5.5" column, #4 Morse Taper, power feed.
2 speed motor and foot pedal for reversing/tapping.
The base is cracked - might have been dropped - but I can repair that.
Runs nice and quiet.
I added a photo of a real Arboga E830 for comparison.
All my life I wanted a good, metal capable drill press and now have 3 of them.
