May I ask how, in this drawing, the cam secures to the 1/2 inch shaft? I have made the cam, shaft, set screw collar, bottom block and counter weight. What is to stop the cam from coming off the end of the shaft, according to the drawing? What am I missing? Press fit? (Tolerance not tight enough.) BTW the drawing is from an old PM do-it-yourself mag, 1955. :)

Welcome aboard Don!

I think the cam is all one piece with the 1'' dia. protrusion.

I guess if it were me, I would build it like this, all one piece.

Thanks. That only makes sense now. Interesting thing to produce then. How would you guys do it, I'm curious? I'm just a hobby guy. I believe I'll cheat and TIG the "collar" to the cam.(eccentric) :)

Offset in 4-jaw?
Agreed :)

I made something similar a couple years go. Used a 4 jaw chuck and offset the stock.

Turn your volume down, it's a bit noisy
