In my shop today, I made a couple of brass thumb screws for my tram tool (that I F*%ked up, I’ll explain), made a couple of spacers for mounting my vise to the mill table, trammed my head in.
Then since it was such a beautiful day, I went out and mowed the lawn. Afterwards back into the shop to get rid of all of the packaging, palettes, boxes, plastic, etc, etc. then just a general clean up in the shop.
So my tram tool, yes, the F up. I wanted so badly to use a slitting saw to split the holes & counter bore small cap head screws where the indicators go. You know because it’s badass looking. However, in my “make it up as I go” system I used to make this tool (yes, I know that is not a very smart idea), I thought “I want my indicators to land on the outside front/rear ledges of my table so I can check nod also.” So I moved the locations of my indicator mounting holes. As soon as I was done drilling & reaming them I was like “Son…of…a…”.
So my “save” was to just make some brass thumb screws to secure my indicators in the tool. It works, it’s ugly, what are you gonna do.?.?.?
Anyway, a few pictures, because why not.
