T& D, If you're after pay, I was (in two separate factories) with "Group Leader" the highest paid hourly worker in the plant. I did work nights, my choice, but I didn't start till I was 32.
I'm 32, also. A little late to the game, but I'm determined.

Pick the job where you think you will learn the most. That is what an apprenticeship is all about.
 
Do I understand you would not get a raise for 4 years with the T & D program? That doesn't sound correct. Your value to the company increases as you learn, and your pay should in some way reflect that.
 
Is this a state approved apprenticeship with a union shop?

Pay raises every 6 months.
