I bought one on ebay a few years ago, and converted it to a tapping head. It allows me to stop immediately, and also to gear reduce. I modified mine, eliminated the having to pull the nose out to reverse it. So now I use the motor to reverse.I have the perfect example. The device is meant to enable a single speed non reversing drill to drive screws, taps, etc. Of course it is basically obsolete as variable speed reversing drills are now ubiquitous and which I own at least a dozen. But I had to have it, because, you know, ya never know...
Tapping Head
I saw a video , I think doubleboost, maybe someone else. They used a Speeder (English for reducer). The English ones are way nicer than the American units. But I'm too cheap to get one and ship it over. At the price I could buy a tapmatic. I bought this one on ebay for $6 a few months ago...
