I ordered and paid for via PayPal a Chuck Backplate for my Clausing 4912 spindle in November 2012. Never received Backplate. Many emails yielded only one reply after 2 months, asking how I paid!?. Money had been transferred according to PayPal (also now too late to open a case). More unanswered emails and no Backplate. Feel free to consider my experience if you decide to order from him.

Does anyone know of another source for a 1-3/4" 8 TPI Backplate for a 6" chuck? Alternatively, is there a source for a piece of cast iron of this size at a reasonable price?

that is just wrong! it's one thing to reject payment for out-of-stock items, but it's another to accept it and never follow through. This only adds to my suspicion that this is a very small scale garage type business and he may have lost track on your sale (not making this right by any means mind you).

I would recommend to keep track of payments and deliveries and make sure if you use paypal or credit card to know your timelines and dispute sales of undelivered items. usually when the money is pulled back, people become more responsive - or worst case, you get your money back.

If you funded your Paypal payment with visa, give them a call. Visa has some pretty good powers of refundage! (Is that a word? Is now!)

Buddy just got ripped off by a guy doing some custom work to his car. After many months of getting screwed around, he went to visa (which he had luckily used to pay for the work), and they refunded all the payments made to the guy.

I did get him on the phone. Explained the situation and gave him a copy of the PPal receipt. He e-mailed me the next day and said the chucks would be in 4/12 and he would ship next day and include some extra tooling to make up for the delay.

Let us know if you get them.
