The end of the power cord that plugs into the box is showing voltage . I’m pretty green to most of this and electronics is not my strong suit.

Unless it is really old, it is probably worth giving it some attention. What brand and model is it?
The box contains a power supply and usually there is a fuse or breaker of some kind. Probably
my best advice would be so have someone do a little diagnostic work on it and see what gives.
It could easily be a failure of the power supply to run the electronics and thus an easy repair.
It would be nice to get it working because the scales are already mounted. Good luck no
matter what you decide to do. Maybe you have an electronically saavy friend who would
help you out.

It does look fairly old but the fuse was good it ohmed out good anyways

Thanks for taking the time to take a photo Mwray.

Yes it looks pretty old but it is a Mitotoyo. Apparently it just reads X and Y with no frills like bolt circle etc.
It still would be worth having someone look at unless you have your heart set on a more versatile unit.
One thing you could do is contact Mitotoyo and find out if your scales would be compatable with a new readout box.

On the other hand, new DRO systems can be had quite inexpensively for over seas. Thats very tempting.

Also, the old Mitotoyo if working would be good on a lathe possibly.....

I’ve gandered at those no name China DRO systems and I’m tempted a worried at the same moment. Do you know anyone that has tried them and is it a good product?

Try going to the SEARCH window on the upper right and type "digital readout". It's easy to look over the various posts that way.
