Be Careful with Carbide Tooling

Well that sucks, but similar things happen to the best of us. Scratch head, take note, and carry on. Cheers, Mike

That sucks! Worst I've done is drop a 10mm carbide 4 flute out of the collet and knock a corner off.

Offshore or domestic?
I dropped my brand new 1/2 inch carbide end mill. It was in the tube and it fell about 14 inches. That was a very expensive lesson. Dont let it happen to you.

Offshore or domestic?
Good question, because bought a 8mm "carbide" on ebay from china and I am not so sure how carbide it really was.......yes was, because it broke way to easy as far as I can remember, but can't remember how exactly.

I suspect/wonder if it had a flaw- that's a short distance to fall, especially in the tube

Couldn't you make a holder for that and just use the shorter length?

I’ve dropped taps and drills, before and had them shatter
