Hey,

Have these two items that I want to mate, and I'm wondering if tapered reamer is the way to go about this? The hole is already tapered for another slightly smaller ball joint.

I would think turning or grinding down the taper on the ball joint would be better, so you don't weaken the cast bracket

Kieth Fenner did a video about a year ago about enlarging a tapered socket using his lathe. Sorry, O wasn't able t6o spot it yet . If I do, I'll post a link.

looks like there is enough meat there, go for it. measure the size, if it's a lot use a chucking reamer , otherwise a hand reamer will be fine.

Check out "repairman's reamers". Years ago I spent hours grinding a special reamer to do the tapers. Later I found a Crafrsman repairman's reamer had the right taper. I am not sure if they are available in Norway.

I think I'll try one of those 7 degree ball joint reamers.

Nothing available for hobbyist here, I buy almost everything online.
