Thank you. I will spend some time, clean it up and try. I know my three jaw chuck is in very poor condition and should be replaced but one can only spend so much. I would like to make the best of what I’ve got.

In for a penny, in for a pound. A new chuck might be a bit costly but whats the point in having such a capable lathe if you aren’t going to get the accuracy you want/need because of $300. There is no reason to waste money, but don’t fall short of the finish line when you are SO close. Just my 2cents.

Thank you very much Brent. You've rendered the community a great service. It's worth mentioning that Standard Modern is very much alive. I aspire to a 1400 series but the 10" is a great machine, I'm looking for one.
