That's a Selective Head L & S lathe, built in the 1920's. Appears to be in very good shape.

A friend of mine in Houston has a couple of these in his collection machines!

so it appears that both of the chucks are mounted to the head stock. What is the purpose of that?

after closer inspection, I see that the four jaw chuck is supported by a jib so that it can be changed out with the three jaw chuck as necessary. Pretty clever!
