1982 Lada Niva

The little Niva needed some work, so having an afternoon to spent at home i thought is as good time as any to get it done, first on the list was to tighten the fan belt, 2 minute job, thanks to the peugeot tensioner i installed, only 1/2" wrench needed. Then i got under it, checked the rear diff oil, because i found oil on one of the shock absorbers, but the diff is fine only the shock seams to let go, must been one of the speed bumps i've been jumping in the city during this pandemic, also front end bushings are falling apart. Then i changed the drivers front indicator lens, when i assemble it i installed a new one, but it seems it is not that good of quality, the orange part fade, so i installed i used one that had a bit of yellowing but still better. The other side is the original with a 1981 date and still in perfect shape i also change the bolts with stainless ones, because the old one had almost rusted away. Last also biggest job was to clean the carburetor, a week ago it left me needing a tow because the needle and seat was sticking, took the air filter housing off, a bit more complex because of the LPG mixer in it then 5 bolt and the carb splits in half, very easy to service, the float and seat has lots of debris and they are worn out, so i split another carburetor i had on my shelves that has low mileage too the float and needle and seat and, clean them and install them in the carburetor on the niva, you can see the difference, put together everything, it fire up, no leaks and is working fine. Drove it out of the garage and over to the other garage where i gave it a wash now is ready for some more driving.

The little niva's been doing some work, i've been towing and using it as a pick up. Its been good to me but i decided to install this decal: I ❤️ Peugeot decal on the Niva, but i think it has organ rejection because the battery in it failed right when i installed it so had to buy a new battery. Glueing one decal turn out costly, that battery is not cheap. I got the best quality they had and a bit bigger capacity for when i swap in a diesel.

I had a jeep that fought me on every little modification. It seemed like I could never get it to run right. I got so frustrated that I gave it to a friend, who has never had a problem with the stupid thing.

Be careful of stickers like that. You don't want to make cars angry. Thanks for the update! It looks good!

The weather is very nice this couple of days, so i visited couple of monuments in my city, but i went there off road, i had to go thru one or two wire fences, couple of very steep hills up and down, which was fun. I took couple of pictures, i hope you like seeing them.

Beautiful country.
That little Niva is starting to look like a concept car for solving congestion on the highways and unemployment. :)
Just joking of course.

Agreed, a very beautiful country!
Thanks for sharing those photos.

I've been needing a small trailer to pull light staff around for some time, but last few projects around the house this has become a nuisance. I do own a big heavy duty trailer, made by me for falling rocks and sand but it is very heavy, in fact is more than half the weight of my car when empty.squares-poster-border-(1500px).jpg So i either need to borrow a truck or a trailer when i need to move something, i tried to get rid of it but no one wants it. This had me looking to build a light one that can be disassembled. But here is very hard to get homebuild thrillers certified and legal for the road, so i've started looking at new ones, also used one's. There is just nothing suitable, new one's 1k and up for a china p.o.s. Any advice, all the trailers i've seen are solid axle, some have rubber insulators on the axle and that is it.

Too bad about it being so difficult to certify a homemade trailer, you definitely have the ability to make a good one designed exactly the way you want it.

I've searched high and low an just about as i was going to start building me a small trailer. Opened the local buying and selling site and this trailer popped up. It has all its papirs when it was bought in 1983 and it was never registered. The trailer supposedly is manufactured in slovenia, it has swing arm suspensions and rubber springs and wheel barrel wheels. The size for my needs is perfect, the construction on the other hand is very weak and is well used, but the price reflects all of that. I paid 80$ for it and spend around 20$ more to transfer the title and bought a new electrical plug, it has two right side indicators, i'll exchange it. Now i need to make a trailer hitch for the little niva and fix the electrics so i can get it inspected and get a plate on it. They may be modifications in its future. :concerned::concerned:

I have a small trailer purchased from Harbor Freight years ago. The only original parts are the axle and manufacturers tag;)
