The past 6 weeks have been adventure packed to say the least . Cleaned up the entire back yard of large logs . Cut , split and ready for the woodstove . Had the entire HVAC system replaced in the living house . Finally got the water drained out of the oil tank down the shop house . 26 gallons of water were drained . Had to replace the fill vent pipe which was rusted thru at ground level . Had all new doors installed on the shop house last week . Next 2-3 days , I have to build a new retaining wall around the patio down at the shop house . The patio has an 8' sliding door for machine entry and removal . The one hill has been a thorn in my side for 25 years now so this will be the last go around on this wall . I have about 20 treated 6 x 6s and GREAT weather up until Sunday so have to get my **** together quickly . :encourage:

Some 35 years ago, I helped our new neighbor build a retaining wall for the uphill side of there new driveway. The slope was something like 75º. We used railroad ties strung together with steel guy wire. The ties were anchored every four or so with anchors screwed into the sand/sandstone hillside at about 8 ft. intervals. It looks a little worse for wear after 35 years but it is still doing its job.

And, what are you doing in your spare time?

You know I'm retired so NO SPARE TIME . 2 hours on the wall today and made progress . I really need to get up to NY for my supplies but the weather here has been too good here to pass up on the outdoor **** . Need some rebar to tie things up before I go up higher and backfill but progress was made for 2 hrs that I had today .

Need some rebar to tie things up before I go up higher
Looking around the garage . To save me some travel time ............ I have miles of 80/20 to spare and plenty of pipe and large aluminum sheet . Why spend $$$$ and time on rebar when I can use what I have here ? The stuff is going to be scrapped anyways and I've always enjoyed burying metal stock in the past . The 3" 80-20 should be plenty sturdy for the job at 2 foot deep , so it's a win , win , win using it and the sheet . :encourage:

Yeah , forgot to mention 2 days actually cleaning out the basement and taking the pics , These are going to the bay and other sites as they're really not hobby related . Check out the cracked floor where the Voest landed ! That 6 foot Starrett is shown . When I clubbed this basement I lost my large axe and sledge hammer . Closed up in the walls . :(
