:p

If you wanted to convert your milling machine to CNC, would you use one of the available CNC kits? If so, which one would you prefer. How tough is it to install one of the 3-axis CNC kits?

Thanks,

Nelson

its preferable to have ballscrews for cnc, they move easier and have less backlash..... the problem i see with most of the kits is that you are stuck with their software upgrades and generally their parts (proprietary systems).... i think i would almost have to make my own setup and use the linux emc2 control software..

Without knowing what kind of machine you want to retrofit it's kind of hard to answer.
I can tell you that even with a kit there is going to be some machining involved getting your mill ready.

I'm talking about an old American mill, like my Burke or the Van Norman #12.

How difficulty would it be on those?
