Could anyone suggest where I may obtain Back plate that would fit a South Bend Lathe that has a 1-1/2 x 8TPI nose spindle. It would need to be at least 3/4" thick and 6-1/4" in diameter.
I may be able to be contacted at dalang@bell.net , I am located in Canada.

That should be an easy thread pattern to find, unlike the one on my Grizzly 9x20 (39mm x 4mm) (grump, grump).

I'm pretty sure all the "usual suspects" (Grizzly, Enco, CDCO, etc.) will have it for sale. Just as a quickie, I checked with Little Machine Shop. Here are their offerings:

PS - just noticed that you wanted 6 1/4" (?) diameter. The third link is for a 6" backplate, which ought to be large enough for the size chucks your lathe can generally handle.

Did you have a look at Busy Bee, they may have a plain/blank one there if your able to do the threading yourself.
