The Desert Eagle magazine is designed to feed rimmed .44 Remington Magnum, not rimless .44 Auto Mag. The magazine lets the tails of the cartridges stagger left/right for rim clearance while the noses are all lined up.
Reproduction .44 AMP magazines are still available for $50-ish. There were some Wildeys shipped in .44 AMP, but Wildey mags are quite rare.
