My 5914 seems to be stuck in gear 1. The lead screw spins when running fine. This has always been really hard to get into gears. Is it time to tackle rebuilding the gear box? If so does this require removing all of the quadrant assembly to get it out?

Sounds like it hasn't been apart for a while- it's probably time to open her up
Take pictures as you go in case there's a chance you might forget how it goes back together

Well I did manage to get it apart. This all may be a non issue it I can’t get it back together. The tumbler gear was stuck on the shaft. There is some wear on the shaft down in the 123 range. I put some assembly lube on it and it sort of works but tends to bind sliding it back and forth the tumbler gear seems to pitch and bind. Maybe right side up this will work better. I guess I will order a new shaft and tumbler gear assembly. Anyone had this issue? Any suggestions?
