6” Single Angle Milling Cutter on R8 Stub Arbor

Those types of cutters are used on large boring mills etc where the rpms go down very slow . Need flood coolant also . This is not a high speed (rpm) cutter by any means and your mill doesn't have the HP to run it . The tool itself will machine dovetails after roughing out , but not with the arbor you are using .
I guess this cutter can only machine male dovetails.

One of the jobs I remember well as an apprentice was the nuclear sub torpedo trays . We ran them on large verticle Cinci mills . We ran corn cob ( roughing end mills ) thru 6 ft of some kind of government supplied un-obtanium stock and then ran a large dovetail cutter thru it . 2 shifts working 12 hrs each . One of the most boring jobs ever . When the cutters finally gave up , they gave up . Remember well how hard it was to reverse the table without damaging the machine .
