Not mine and I don't know the seller or I would have told him to get rid of that 6" 3 jaw and replace it with a 3" . Check the feed screw , looks like a ball screw . Why someone would rig up that is kinda' weird . Anyhow here it is .

Check out that OFF switch. I kinda like it! Like maybe for my table saws. That chuck is a lot of mass. Throw that thing in reverse and the chuck would probably un-thread itself!!!...Dave

While I don't disagree that the chuck is too large for the machine, I have a much heavier 6" on my 3996 and it has never come loose. Of course I would never try to cut in reverse.

The added small lead screw is probably part of a failed attempt to drive the carriage with a separate motor.
