I saw Pragmatic Lee on YouTube doing this modification on his cast iron V blocks. I didn't like that he drilled into the web in the center so I drilled on both sides. Still works the same way. I only made two straps from old scrap steel I had laying around.
These v blocks are not the greatest and not perfectly aligned on the width to each other but it's not hard to dial in the part instead of expecting the edges to line up perfectly. These v blocks do have lots of room for toe clamps
