Another what is it item in the box???

These were in a box of machinist tools I recently bought and havent any idea what they are. No markings anywhere on them. There about 1” in dia. And about 10” long. Thanks in advance.

Definitely not a plumb bob. Machine centers make the most sense so far. Although something Paul Bunyan used sounds pretty cool too
