Not plumb bobs. A plumb boob has a central hole for the string. These do not so the bob would hang off center. making it useless as a plumb bob.

Because the subject parts are not symmetrical about the long axis, they would not hang precisely from a string attached to the radial center. In other words, the point of the cone would not be on the extended axis of the string.

I agree Dab . The B&S older universal grinders used these . The flat was located on the top .
