Anyone ever heard of a "Line drive" lathe?

Former coworker is asking me about this as hes applying for a job. I looked around on the net some but only got line shaft lathes. I've heard of the line drive lathes but disremember where.

I heard of them recently and if my memory serves me correctly I heard that it had something to do with South Bend. Check out vintagemachinery.org

Never heard of the name "line drive" lathe but as you mentioned it sounds like it would be older lathes and machinery driven by line shafts. But that doesn't make sense for applying for a job these days. Is the job automotive/vehicle related?

When I searched "line drive lathe", the suggestion of "drive line lathe" came up which gave results for "drive shaft lathes". :dunno:

I didn’t have much luck either with “line drives” but I did find some relevance with “linear drives”. Maybe that’s what he was referring to?

Walker Turner used to sell "Driver Line" machines if that's any help.

Lathes that take power from a lineshaft that runs in the ceiling above the various machines?
