Jeff Beck from Tools4cheap.net is a very good seller. It wasn't him.
Jeff is very reputable, fast to response, one of the best I would say.
It was 1-800-Watt, who now has a new name, I forget what it is.
Some people have had good experiences with him, some bad, it varies.
Some sellers start out very good, and something happens.
Business goes south. They get a little desperate.
When I first did business with ipenelopepitstop (Ron Cammarata) he was great.
I used to recommend him to people all the time for SB parts.
I bought several hundred dollars worth of parts from him easily,
including a tailstock turret and cross-sliding tool post for my SB 10L (cost me about $500).
Then, I started to notice things.
He would hang out in the South Bend forum of PM just to hawk his wares.
Then he posted that he was moving from Ebay to another auction site to save on Ebay fees.
Then he posted that the new place was dead, he was going back to Ebay.
Recently, he joined to SB Yahoo group and started to hawk his parts there.
Someone took him to task on a sale, and he gave a very rude response.
This isn't a very good way for a seller to behave IMHO.
My own last experience with him was this.
I asked if he had a South Bend Drill Press. He said yes.
His was in good condition with nice features (table elevator, etc).
He didn't intend to sell it before I asked.
I said how much? He said make me an offer.
So I said, well $200 is what I have right now, but if I need more,
let me know and I will save up.
He said he didn't intend to sell it now, but if he did, I had "dibs" on it.
Next thing I know, it is advertised on Ebay.
I asked him what happened to my "dibs".
Got no response. (The sure sign of a guilty party is silence).
It sold for $400 if I recall.
Last time I bought from him.
For $200 more, he sold an item out from under a regular customer,
and lost me.
Not smart.
Makes you wonder what these people are thinking.
