Is there a standard thread size and form, for the thread where barrel and action meet ? Does for instance remington and ruger use different threads or is there an industry standard ? I know there would have to be different sizes as a .416 rem mag isn't going to be built on the same action as a .22 hornet. These threads are something i have little experience of. Thanks.

Every manufacture has differing threads for different firearms. There are some resources available online. The NRA Gunsmithing Guide book has the most complete listing with others sites adding to that list.
Another book or books to look at are the one by Frank DeHaas, many people called him Mr Single Shot. He has listing in several of his publications. Some are hard to find.
Here is a decent listing.
