I have been pretty happy with the Braun line of lights from Harbor Frieght.
I dont have much in the way of plug in lights to offer.

Most of the lights with built-in magnets that I have tried do not hold well (but then, I go for lower cost than the Quasars). I have several Sewing Machine Light LED Lighting 30LEDs 6 Watt :


that I use for task lighting, including inside my 3-D Printer. Since they are small & light weight, the magnetic base works well.

I also have a 900 Lumens Flexible Gooseneck Lamp:

You can also see one of the "Sewing Machine Lights" peeking around the right side of the column.

I tried a version that has a magnetic base, but it would not stay put, even on thick, unpainted cast iron, so it went back (one of the advantages of buying on Amazon).

I use two of these on my mill. very bright. Magnets are holding to my painted “Bridgeport” mill very well.
