10 year old compressor started to have intermittent drain down of air.
Most of the time it holds air for weeks but sometimes empty next day.
Checked the auto drain and there was air coming out of the drain.
Pulled it off and apart, simple device, but the valve seat was pitted and the rubber washer shaped object also messed up.
Found rebuild kit online for 40 or so bucks but no seat.
So we made a lap to dress it.
Could not find the grinding compound I know I have several of...did find some air brush erasing compound, mixed with oil and made some.
Lapped the seat while the lap was still in the lathe, when done we cut it off and made it for a hand drill.
Upon examinining the valve it looked a lot like a fawcet washer, in the b.s. of washers we found one close, drilled out the center and good to go.
Works like a champ!
