I am just starting
I am thinking of purchasing a Starrett Combination square set
I was looking at the 12 inch blade
I was wondering if I should get the

4R- 8ths, 16ths, 32nds and 64ths

or

16R- 32nds, 64ths Aircraft quick reading 50ths 100ths

reversible vs nonreversible protractor head

hardened vs nonhardened

Thanks Bob

Personally I would much prefer the 50ths and 100ths.

Starrett is NICE stuff! So, keep going with the niceness and get the hardened set. And I guess the blade/scale with 50ths and 100ths. I personally don’t use the grads much on the scale except for 8 & 16. I will typically grab my dial calipers for metrology in my shop, good luck, Dave.

Go with the Starrett 'chrome' blades they are a LOT easier to read and don't rust. Also my 24" rule gets as much use as my 12".

If you have a tool chest get the harden set plus a 24" blade. I used them both. If you don't have a tool chest get a case for the heads. I kept the paper sleeves the rulers came in. I have 1/64" graduated blades. Treat them well and they will last a lifetime.
