He's retired, but still does semi-production runs for custom parts, radio gear mostly.

In relative terms this guy is local to me. Only one and a half hours drive.
I've seen it in person a few times, pretty tidy, good precision.

Thanks for posting the vid.
Interesting to know about the flywheel. Ive seen steppers with the option of a through shaft as your friend has. Seems like if using a stepper, having the option would be a good idea. The noise level dropped big time with his flywheel mod, great tip.
