Cutting a key slot with a lathe

New member today and, I, too saw this as my first thread viewed. I'm a complete novice and have my first ever lathe on order. Can't wait to get it and to start learning what they are capable of doing. This is the type of thread to get me to think outside the box. Thank You!

Great bunch of blokes here. All levels of Experience. I have found this to be my forum of choice and I monitor over 60 of them between yahoo goups and actual forums.

Thank you for the welcome! I've joined 6 machining forums over the last 4 weeks and as soon as I saw the page colors, layout and a few threads in this one, it felt as though I had found a home.

I'm another new member that's turned on by these how-to videos. I want to make a jig like that, but maybe so that it fits into my milling attachment. I learn something new every time I visit. :)
