Deburring wheel ratings

For deburring wheels, 3M uses S (silicon carbide) and A (aluminum oxide), as in a 9S wheel.

Competitors seem to use "P" for silicon carbide, as in 9P.

Anyone know where the P nomenclature comes from?

Just found a vendor that uses P for aluminum oxide, so maybe it is arbitrary ?

Ahh... maybe. ISO sandpaper ratings use a P also.
