I have found that all my dividing head cutters are made to cut in the counter clockwise direction but the head is mounted with clockwise threads ( right hand ) thus any drag tends to unscrew the head.
I find this quite odd or ----am I missing something?

Gear and other cutters can be flipped over to cut the other way. A set screw pushing on a brass plug can be installed in the chuck to lock it on to the spindle.
