DOC or diameter with lathe DRO

I did not know this was the norm. I have moved from a Sherline to a 9x20 Asian to a South Bend 10K. All of those crossfeed dials were depth of cut. I think I would really screw up now if I went to diameter dials.
Really ? I've never run one or owned one with DOC over the years . That 13" Colchester is the only one I've ever seen and both the 15" Colchesters are " normal " .

You probably wouldn't screw up as you would soon be aware that you under cut and correct the error. If you were used to using a lathe with a dial that read diameter decrease, that would be a different matter though. More than likely, you would only make the mistake once though.
